Pellet mill and hammer mill are 2 main parts in a complete biomass pellet plant: one is for pelletizing; the other is for crushing raw material. They are also the basic components in a complete biomass pellet plant, since as long as you make biomass pellets, your raw material is probably larger than required size. As a result, hammer mill becomes another necessity for pellet making.

Pellet Mill

Pellet mill is used to press the powdery biomasses like sawdust, straw, alfalfa, stalk, bamboo, grass, peanut shell, rice husk, coconut shell, EFB, etc. into cylinder stick shape solid fuel.

There are 2 types of pellet mills manufactured by GEMCO: one is flat die pellet mill, the other is ring die pellet mill.

Flat die pellet mill:

Flat die pellet mill has a flat die as main part, and its capacity is 50-800kg/h. there are different models for you to choose.

In fact, flat die pellet mill also can be divided into 2 types: D-type pellet mill and R-type pellet mill.

D-type pellet mill is generally used to process softwood species like pine, fir, cypress, larch, basswood, and also crop waste like straw, stalk, rice husk, peanut shell, grass, etc. It has a rotating flat die and a stationary roller, so the pressure between roller and die is smaller than the R-type pellet mill. The D-type pellet mill can produce 50-400kg/h of biomass powder.

R-type pellet mill is more suitable for processing hardwood, such as elm tree, oak, birch, cypress, hickory, basswood, cherry, larch, maple, poplar, etc. it has a rotating roller and a stationary flat die. This technique can produce large pressure to biomass, so that even hard wood species can be pressed tightly together.

If you just want to make pellets at home, in a farm or set up a small plant, flat die pellet mill is a good choice.

Ring die pellet mill:

Ring die pellet mill has a ring die instead of a flat die. it realizes large pellet productivity of 500-2000kg/h. besides the raw materials that can be processed by flat die pellet mill, ring die pellet mill can also make pellets from palm kernel, bagasse, coconut shell, etc.

Usually ring die pellet mill is for industrial or commercial use pellet mill. Its large capacity makes it suitable for furniture factory, palm oil factory or other woodworking factories to process the waste; also, it is now used by some plants to make fuel for power generation plants.

Hammer Mill

Hammer mill is used to pulverize the long and thick biomass raw material into 3-5mm smaller pieces. There are different capacities to match with pellet mill. For small pellet mill, you choose small hammer mill; for large pellet mill, you choose large hammer mill.

Our hammer mills are able to process different biomasses. Even the palm fiber and coconut shell can be processed by our hammer mill.
